3 years of Progress - My brother Mark by Rick-Kills-Pencils 3 years of Progress - My brother Mark by Rick-Kills-Pencils
I just wanted to encourage you guys and prove to you that artists are not born being as good as they will ever be!

I drew this exactly 3 years ago this month, and was about 30 days after I started drawing, after a 30 YEAR time out, HA! :D:D

Thanks much, but sadly, we lost him to cancer in 2005 :(

I'm so very sorry to hear that Rick. I have no doubt he would be very proud of your progress...You seem like you come from a very loving, and supporting environment.

That's MIND BLOWING that you have only been at this for just 4 years! You must have some type of genius for it...I've seen a few others, both who paint people and landscapes, who also have only been at it for a short while. They seem to think anyone can do it with enough practice. Although that may be true to an 'extent', still a person has to be talented to begin with...to get to your level!
Wow, just wow! - and don't look at my work. please! :blushes:

Yes you do; but it's more than that, it's a distinct and personal 'skill'...Just like, a hair dresser once told me anyone can learn what she does. And again, although true, like I told her, not everyone is going to be GOOD at it. - To keep people coming back for more.

I used to feel the same way about my writing skills, that anyone can learn. Again, they can! But not all are going to be good at it.

I think the advice that people :keep practicing; practice makes perfect", is good advice; to the best of their abilities - But I wouldn't tell them at all "anyone can do what "I" do". - meaning yourself; for, "anyone" simply can not. You just think that because it comes so easy, and natural to you.

This is a before/after with a great impact!
I bet every aspiring artist who sees it (me included :D ) gets really excited thinking "wow, this is the progress I could make, I'll better get to work!"

Actually, finding some of your drawings on google about 2 years ago made me start drawing again and have new, higher aspirations for my art. So, thanks :)
